the experience

ChelseaPhotos-31.jpg

Your senior year is full of "remember when" type of moments that you'll look back on years from now. Friday nights, late night apps, football games, prom, bonfires, and so much more. Your senior year is an awesome season of life.

You're celebrating the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, and I am so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.

When you choose me as your senior photographer, the experience is all all about celebrating who you are. I want to know your favorite color, what your future holds, and how we can showcase all the badass (yes mom, I said it!) things you’ve done up to this point in your life. My goal is to get to know my senior clients and use that to channel my creative juices to capture your unique personality and interests.

  • When is the best time of year to schedule my senior session?
The most popular time to schedule your senior session is the summer before your senior year. Oftentimes, the yearbook at your school will want your chosen image in September or October. That being said, I’d recommend getting on my calendar for your senior session sometime between June-September. However, don’t wait to reach out about it. I start booking summer senior sessions in January of any given year, and I only take on a limited number of seniors each summer. If you’re planning to get your pictures taken the summer before your senior year, I’d recommend reaching out to me in the spring of your junior year. If you’re running a little behind, don’t stress. Still reach out and we’ll see if we can get you on the calendar. Just keep in mind that during August-November, photographers generally have a longer delivery time due to fall being a demanded time for photos.
  • Where will I take my senior pictures?
Now that’s up to you! I’ve got some awesome outdoor locations up my sleeve in Ellsworth, Maiden Rock, Red Wing (MN), River Falls, Hudson, and even Stillwater (MN). We have time to shoot at two, maybe three, locations within close proximity during your session. If you’ve got a location in mind, let’s talk about it, and if you’re not sure, I can help. Wanting to head to a location beyond those listed? I’m all for traveling, just know that there may be additional travel fees for locations outside a 30 mile radius from Ellsworth, WI.
  • What should I wear to my senior session?
You should wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. We usually have time for 2-4 outfit changes during your session. Don’t forget to include any outfits that are unique to you. Do you play a sport and want some shots in your jersey? Bring it along. If you’re having trouble choosing what to wear, I’m happy to give you some advice based on the location(s) we’ll be shooting at.
  • How should I prepare for my senior photos and what should I bring?
To prepare for your senior session, I want to get to know what you’re all about. If you’re big into reading – let me know. If you want to incorporate your pet, tell me! Let’s talk about ways that we can make your senior session all about YOU. On the day of, you should bring any outfit changes (no more than four) along with any props or items you want to incorporate in your photos. Oh, and maybe some water to stay hydrated! 😊
  • What if it rains?
If the forecast looks like it might rain on the day of your session, we’ll watch the weather closely and I’ll make the call to reschedule anywhere between 5-12 hours prior.
  • I really want indoor photos, do you offer that?"
I, personally, don’t have a studio space for indoor photos, but if you’re set on getting some shots in a trendy studio, we can make it happen. There are a few studios we can choose from in Hudson (WI) and Stillwater (MN), and even more near the Twin Cities. Please keep in mind that you will be responsible for the charge of the studio and there may be additional travel fees.
  • Do you retouch senior photos?
All of my photos involve a very small amount of retouching. I almost always soften skin and remove very noticeable blemishes. I try to keep my retouching to a minimum because I want your photos to look as natural as possible. If you’re looking for extensive retouching, I may not be the right photographer for you.
  • Do you offer payment plans?
Generally, you secure your senior session with a 50% retainer fee at the time of booking, with the remainder of the payment due on or before the day of your session. If you’d like to talk more about payment plans, please let me know. I’m happy to develop a plan that works for both of us if needed.
  • How do I order prints of my photos?
My senior collection price includes the ability to download all digital images in the gallery. You do have the option to print through me if you’d like. If you do, your images are printed locally at a professional printer in St. Paul, MN and will be delivered right to your door. If you’re not interested in printing through me, that’s totally alright. If you’re looking for a professional printer for a reasonable price, I would recommend using Mpix (www.mpix.com).
